From getting bitten to getting Bitcoin, Transylvania has come a long way since being made famous in Bram Stoker’s Dracula.   The Transylvania Crypto Conference from 10-12 October 2019 is the first major crypto event organized in Cluj-Napoca, the largest city in Transylvania, in west Romania. The city was the European Youth Capital of 2015 and is a big technology hub, seeking to establish itself as the “the silicon valley of eastern Europe”. It hosts thousands of startups, several ICOs and has a rapidly growing speciality in Blockchain technology.

The TCC vision is to educate people: bring them together and contribute to the already established “Smart City” status, by hosting this event, offering a variety of speakers, technical engineers, bitcoin professionals, cyber security professionals and business owners who give their perspectives on bitcoin and other blockchain technologies.   It promises to be an exciting and freshly different event and Trippki is proud, happy and buzzed to be their Official Accommodation partner with some 60 hotels available in Cluj for the conference on either our standard or club hotel booking platform.

A vibrant city with a lot of things to offer, Cluj can be visited year round but certain months are best, depending on what you plan to do. The Botanical Gardens, for example,  can be at their best in October, which is handy for the conference. It starts to get cold in October so dress and pack accordingly.

While Cluj is quite a large city, its historical center is compact and very easy to get around on foot.   For a quick tour, start in Museum Square and walk towards Union Square where you’ll find the stunning St. Michael’s Church and the statue of Matthias Corvinus. From there, walk towards the National Theatre and then make your way to the Tailor’s Bastion, pass by the Town Hall, and make your way to Central Park. Then walk all the way to the top of Fortress Hill for stunning panoramic views of the city.   Then you’ll need a drink:

Cluj is a student city as well, nearly 80.000 students from all over the city decide to stay in the city after graduating university. Piezisa street is where the action is, the street that never sleeps, a narrow, intensely circulated area, the happy street of Cluj.

For museums and art:

The National Art Museum, Cluj-Napoca, is an art museum housed in a beautiful eighteenth-century Baroque building, the Cluj-Napoca Bánffy Palace

For restaurants:

Museum Square is great but also we like Roata: great for regional food, try the Schnitzel and wash it down with local Schnapps. Then try saying Schnappes!

Samsara Food House, for more modern, healthy options in a vibrant cool setting.

For Coffee lovers , because Cluj-sters love to drink, we like Yume Coffee Roasters where they roast hundreds of kilos of eight different coffees every week and really know their coffee stuff!

Best bars & clubs:

We like Flying Circus and, rather ironically, the Londoner Pub which as themed bars go, is pretty good or for the world’s first steampunk kinetic bar try Enigma.

For clubbing the perennial favourite is still After Eight Club.   Lively and loud with great cocktails too.

Get cracking and book your tickets and accommodation for this great event in the heart of Transylvania and share in the crypto love.
